What Kind Of Questions Do Home Buyers Ask?

As a realtor for over 35 years, I have been asked lots of different questions about purchasing a home or what to look for in a realtor. Usually the questions I get asked about buying a home is like, "Is this the right time to purchase a home?" My answer is usually to ask a question on the buyers motivation, since it tells me if they are really wanting to purchase a home. If so, then I would tell them that this is actually the best time in the past 40 years, based on home affordability, to purchase a home. Also, interest rates are at an all time low. Another plus is that there is a home buyer tax credit. How can it get better than it is today?!

If the question is about how to pick a realtor, you may find me a little opinionated on this subject. Realtors come in all types, shapes, sizes, experiences, knowledge, and various abilities to communicate effectively. There are those who can take care of a client hands down and then there are those that need a lot of help throughout the transaction. So if I were picking a realtor, I would want to know who they worked with before and if they had any testimonials from their clients. I would ask the question to them, Why should I work with you? I would listen intently to their answer and decide if they were confident in giving me an answer. I would ask them to explain what should I expect from them during the transaction? Ask and re-ask them questions that you feel they did not answer effectively. If they can't explain things to you then how are they going to negotiate on your behalf. You will want someone who has the experience to give you great advice. So just ask them lots of questions until you are satisfied with the answers or move on to someone else.
